Concept

Appropriately located in Earth’s largest ocean, Chakra’s premier home is essentially a large multi-level artificial island, afloat in relatively shallow waters close to an atoll.

Connected to a central floating hub, the main circular levels are suspended above the water itself, thereby preventing areas of the seabed from being deprived of natural daylight. Each of the levels have various administration and accommodation buildings, accompanied by spacious lawns and arboretums, while certain areas serve a specific purpose such as hydroponics food production. As with most cetacean human habitats, a waterway system connects the central area of each apartment and utility, enabling humans and dolphins to be together in any part of the complex generally.

Consistent with all of Chakra’s sea-based facilities, the design of Pacific Chakra allowed expansion as the organisation’s status steadily grew. To complete the facility, a circular formation of smaller self-contained habitat modules was created, surrounding the main island. Some of the modules provide guest accommodation specifically, while others are inhabited by permanent residents. Each module has its own temperature controlled biosphere, ensuring a comfortable environment for occupants during poor weather conditions. Within the formation, four islands of a different design serve as airports, with the arrival / departure building on each island supporting a raised platform for hoverjets and medium sized airships. In contrast to the other outer modules, the airports are connected to the main island, allowing continuous conveyance of passengers and cargo.

In the early years after Pacific Chakra’s initial construction, power was provided solely by tidal generators in the central hub. This has now been greatly supplemented by Space-Based Solar Power (SBSP), made available to most of Earth from vast solar farms on asteroids, relocated by Chakrangers to a stable point between Earth and the Moon. Today, most cetacean human settlements have connections to the SBSP network.

Pacific Chakra’s overall design has an organic quality, creating a welcoming home and reflecting the atmosphere of the Cetacean Human Age.
